YouTube Earnings Calculator
Estimate YouTube revenue from views and RPM — with niche presets, CPM conversion, Shorts earnings, and channel value estimation
What is the YouTube Earnings Calculator?
The YouTube Earnings Calculator estimates how much a YouTube channel can earn from ad revenue based on views and RPM (Revenue Per Mille — revenue per 1,000 views). It includes niche RPM presets, a CPM-to-RPM converter, a separate Shorts earnings calculator, a channel-size estimator for creators who think in upload schedules, and a channel value estimator.
Rather than showing a single misleading number, the calculator presents a realistic revenue range — low, average, and high — because actual YouTube earnings fluctuate with seasonality, audience location, advertiser demand, and watch time. The numbers here are estimates for ad revenue only and don't include sponsorships, memberships, Super Chats, or merchandise.
How to Use the Calculator
- 1Enter Monthly Views:
On the Long-form tab, enter your monthly views. Use the quick-pick buttons for common values, or type any number.
- 2Set RPM or Pick a Niche:
Enter your RPM directly, or click a niche preset (Gaming, Finance, Tech, etc.) to apply a typical RPM for that category. If you only know your CPM, click "Enter CPM instead" and the tool converts it to RPM.
- 3Read the Estimates:
See daily, monthly, and yearly revenue instantly, plus a realistic low–average–high monthly range that accounts for normal earnings variance.
- 4Try the Other Tabs:
Switch to Shorts for the much lower Shorts ad-pool rates, By Channel Size to estimate from your upload schedule, or Channel Value to estimate what your channel might sell for.
RPM vs CPM — What's the Difference?
RPM (Revenue Per Mille)
The amount you actually earn per 1,000 views after YouTube takes its cut. This is the figure shown in your YouTube Studio analytics. RPM already accounts for the 45% YouTube keeps, non-monetised views, and different ad rates.
CPM (Cost Per Mille)
The amount advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. This is always higher than RPM. As a rough rule, RPM ≈ CPM × 0.55, because YouTube keeps 45% and not every view shows a monetised ad. Use the CPM toggle if that's the only number you know.
Typical RPM by Niche
| Niche | Typical RPM Range | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Finance | $10–30 | Advertisers pay premium rates for high-value audiences (banking, investing, insurance). |
| Business | $5–15 | B2B and software advertisers bid aggressively for professional audiences. |
| Technology | $3–10 | Tech product advertisers and high purchase intent push rates up. |
| Education | $3–8 | Engaged, often higher-income audiences attract decent ad rates. |
| Gaming | $1–3 | Large volume but younger audience with lower purchasing power. |
| Entertainment | $0.5–2 | Broad audience, lower advertiser targeting value per view. |
Calculator Features
Important: These are estimates
This calculator estimates AdSense ad revenue only. Actual earnings depend on audience geography, season (Q4 is highest), ad blockers, watch time, video length (8+ minutes allows mid-roll ads), and content type. Real channels also earn from sponsorships, channel memberships, Super Chats, merchandise, and affiliate links — often far more than ad revenue. Use these figures as a directional guide, not a guarantee.
